Abalone Drop Earrings — River Stone Morning

You know that color the river makes at dawn when the light hasn't fully committed yet? That silvery-green-purple thing that shifts every time you blink? That's what these abalone shells look like in your hands. Each oval is its own little landscape — swirls of iridescent grey, mossy green, deep purple, and flashes of silver that move with you. I framed them with matte black hematite chevron arrows above and below, because abalone this gorgeous deserves some structure, and amber-gold crystal bicones to catch the warmth. Gold-tone fish hook ear wires. Approximately 3.5 inches total drop. Sold as a pair — and because abalone is natural, each shell has its own unique pattern, so even within the pair, no two sides are identical. Handmade by an Indigenous artist — each piece is unique and will never be made again. I held these up to the light about forty times while I was making them. They earned it.
