Beaded Ring — Twilight Over the Mountain

This is the color the sky turns right before it gives up on being daytime — that impossible purple-to-blue shift over Mt. Shasta that lasts about four minutes if you're lucky. I caught it in beads instead of a photograph. This hand-beaded ring is woven in peyote stitch using matte lavender purple and translucent aqua blue Delica seed beads in a geometric stepped diamond pattern. The translucent blue beads catch light in a way the matte purple doesn't, so the pattern kind of glows. It sits at approximately a size 7, with a band width of about 3/8 inch. Comfortable enough to wear every day. Beautiful enough that you'll want to. Handmade by an Indigenous artist — each piece is unique. I will never make this exact ring again. Not in this color, not in this pattern. My hands held every single bead in place. Now it's waiting for your hand.
